The
Most Important
Birthday on Earth

When
we were
children we eagerly awaited our birthday dreaming about the gifts we
would get from our parents and other relatives and friends. We awaited
anxiously for our party with candies and so many delicious things to
eat and drink. Now, we are adult but we still expect that people
remember our birthday, that they give us a special hug when we meet or
call us on the phone to say “happy birthday” and wish us
health and all
the things we feel we need.
Our
birthday was
and still is, a day for us to think that there are people who love us
and to believe that those people commemorate our birthday in order to
make us feel happy.
About
two
thousand years ago, a very special child was born. We celebrate it at
the end of this month, on December 25th to be precise. That child was
born humbly but is a Spirit Who is no less that the governor and the
main leader of humanity for this planet. That child doesn't want gifts
or a party. That child only wants us to love one another as much as we
are loved by Him.
Do
we
commemorate Jesus’ birthday the way He would like us to? Do we
spend at
least a few hours of the Christmas day showing Jesus that we are
capable of loving our brothers and sisters, especially those that have
no one else to love them; the people who live in the streets, those who
are abandoned in asylums or hospitals, those that don't get a single
smile from anyone in their day?
Let
us show
Jesus that we love him. Let us give less to ourselves and more to those
who are in need. Let us give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty,
a loving hug to those who are strangers to us, clothes to those need
them, let us visit the sick, and those who are in jail. We may choose
just one or two of those actions and offer them to Jesus on His
birthday. This way we will be truly commemorating Jesus' special day,
and
showing our Master, His is the most important birthday on Earth to us!
