A
Previous Life as Dinosaur:
Looking for an Explanation

In
spiritualist lists and boards one can read many interesting messages
that would never show up in spiritist virtual groups. I was the
moderator of a forum in a spiritualist board on March 26, 2001 when a
member sent a message to the entire group telling us about a
spontaneous regression in which she had felt herself living as an
herbivore dinosaur. At that time I hadn’t studied much about the
evolution of the spiritual principle and my first reaction was to find
such a regression very strange. Nevertheless, since I always accepted
that other people might be closer to reality than I am, I tried to work
on a hypothesis that would fit her regression into the Spiritist
Doctrine. More than one year later, on August 29, 2002, to be exact, I
had already studied more than 10 serious works on the evolution of the
soul and so I decided to write again about the issue. Here is what I
wrote at that later time.

According
to my present understanding, the spiritual principle follows a long
path before it enters the human realm. I will write a very, very
abridged version of how I understand that path and then I will comment
on the regression above. Sorry if this turns out to be a long post.
Before
focusing on each realm, I would like to make some previous
considerations. If we observe nature on Earth and analyze the
difference between realms we will not see a continuous evolution line.
This happens because the evolution path available for each realm
encompasses many different worlds in ascending order. The most evolved
minerals, therefore, are to be found in a very evolved world, where
vegetables, animals and humans are equally very evolved. The same
happens with vegetables, animals and humans. When a Spirit starts its
first life as a human being, this life follows its last life as an
animal in a much more evolved world. When a group soul starts
generating a new vegetable species for the first time and in a certain
world, it has come from its last generation cycle of minerals in a much
more evolved world. Since my drawings are awful, I hope you can
visualize what I am saying without one.
Cohesion
and attraction are learnt in the mineral realm. In such a realm the
presence of a group-soul for each (type of ) mineral and that of a
broader group-soul for families of minerals seem to be quite
predominant. Individual vortices may eventually appear here and there
in isolated crystals when subject to the influence of a human Spirit,
events that are seen by some people who study crystals as proof of an
individual behavior. To my understanding, however, they’re simply
reflecting the influence the human Spirit had on them, with no
consequence for the evolution of the mineral family to which they
belong. Apart form that particular case, the behavior of minerals of
all sorts is rather similar for each type, no matter where they are
found, what is a clear indication that the group-soul is highly
predominant inside the mineral realm.
The
senses start being developed in the vegetable realm and reaction to
external factors helps to develop variations within species fragmenting
the predominant group-soul into increasingly smaller group souls
whereas the individual vortices within each group soul also increase in
importance.
All
along the animal realm the predominant force that carries the spiritual
principle forward is instinct as it had been before since the starting
point. Nevertheless, two new characteristics start being developed in
the animal realm, to say, reason and free will. Although both
characteristics are still far from maturity, they accelerate the
developing of the individual vortices so that in the most evolved
species, the group-soul is no longer predominant but the individual
ones. It is important to have in mind that even in the developed animal
souls instinct still prevails over reason. Being so, their primitive
free will does not yet bond them to the Law of Causality.
When
reason and free will concerning actions are mature, the soul enters the
human realm, when it is called a Spirit. Free will concerning actions
being nature, the spirit is immediately bond to the Law of Causality.
Along the human realm all virtues have to grow. Considering the main
components of all virtues we can say that the spirit has to acquire
increasing doses of wisdom and goodness.
When
the spirit has evolved enough so that it no longer does any action in
discordance to God’s laws it enters the angelic realm. Considering
their actions are always positive, they have free will over actions and
reactions, being able to use their rewards in the benefit of others.
Such spirits can be called Pure Spirits. When they reincarnate they
either do so in very subtle worlds where they can be at both planes
(material and spiritual dimensions) at the same time or they
reincarnate as messengers in less developed worlds.

Now,
let us think of that regression. If one can remember a life as a
specific dinosaur individual, it suggests that such a dinosaur’s soul
was already individualized. Considering that most scientists now
believe that the majority of dinosaurs were extinct by a cataclysm,
such a sudden extinction implies that a huge amount of souls and
group-souls were transferred to another world so that another team
would develop here in the mammal species. A few of those group-souls
seem to have remained on Earth forming species of reptiles and birds.
As we examine birds and reptiles in our days, nevertheless, most of
those species don’t suggest individual behavior, whereas the few that
do seem to be just starting on that path. So, the soul of a dinosaur in
your regression (you?) must have moved to subtler worlds in order to
develop its abilities until a species on Earth would appear to host it
in the human realm, probably the Neanderthal or the Cro-Magnon man.
I
am aware that the short explanation above may have many holes in it and
that an exhaustive analysis of this issue would takes a whole book.
However it’s the best I can do in a message to a group considering how
far I still am to fully understand the issue.
